CANSLIM & Growth

Quarterly Growers

Quarterly Growers is a CANSLIM & Growth screen. It checks every NSE-listed stock against 2 conditions computed from nightly data, after excluding heavily pledged promoters and very small market caps. This page explains the rule, each figure and its source. It lists no stocks and is not advice.

What it does and why

Sequential quarter-on-quarter earnings improvement — where each quarter is better than the one before — is one of the most reliable signs that a business has genuine forward momentum. A company can easily beat last year's comparison if last year was weak; sequential improvement is harder to fake because it requires the business to keep getting better in real time. This screener finds companies that have improved their earnings for multiple consecutive quarters. The longer the streak, the stronger the signal.

The rule, step by step

A stock must satisfy every condition below. Conditions are grouped under the pillar they test.

Earnings Momentum

  • Latest Quarter PAT > PAT, Same Quarter Last Year
  • Latest Quarter Revenue > Revenue, Same Quarter Last Year

Hard excludes

  • Promoter pledge above 30% of the promoter's holding
  • Market cap below ₹500 crore

What each figure means

Consecutive Quarters of EPS Improvement

The number of consecutive quarters in which earnings per share was higher than the previous quarter. A value of 4 means the company has improved its EPS every quarter for the past four quarters.

More is better. Three consecutive improvements is the minimum signal. Five or more consecutive improvements is rare and typically indicates a company firing on all cylinders.

High is better

Most Recent Quarter EPS Growth (QoQ, %)

The EPS growth in the most recently reported quarter compared to the quarter before it. Shows whether the sequential improvement is accelerating or slowing.

High is better
